Born in Manacor (Mallorca) in 1929, his hobby of pipe, it comes from the hand of his father as a child.

His father (Sebastian Bonet) Was prison, in jail in Manacor, for political reasons during the Spanish dictatorship. Person with high initiative and spirit of work, created with fellow pipe workshop I get to produce more than two dozen pipes daily. Once released, the amount in a small home workshop where Joan Bonet began as an apprentice at age fourteen and where Bonet were produced for 40 years.
Today retired, he is still active in the world of the pipe and providing expertise and his passion for her.
Career:
Besides making pipes, has been a founding member of the Pipa Club in Spain and Mallorca Pipa Club. He has also worked at length, publishing articles in the Barcelona Pipa Club.
He has written several books:- Les rondalles Pipe (1978).- I fumant a pipe (1981).- Pipades i Vivències (1983)- The Pipes (1989).- Amb pipe i sense (2004).- The pipe in the Balearics.- The pipameron.
In 2000, he was champion of Spain of slow smoked.
His pipes:
Generally classic designs are usually very light, to the point of transmitting a false sense of fragility. Without having spectacular veined, with few exceptions, are made with great care finalizing details, both in the ways in finishes.Nozzles I have had the occasion to try, they are extremely comfortable.In short, high quality pipes, great smokers and that immediately come to be among our favorites.

* The numbers:
Although many people thought that was the numbers marked in Bonet, indentifican his cataloging of shape, this is not so.Bonet, needed to connect the pipes that sold with bills on the sale. Actually those numbers are simply the number of the delivery note where we noted the bill.
* The tinted:
On occasion I have heard of the characteristic staining of Bonet, having even people who are proudly able to identify a remote Bonet color. Joan Bonet, never made a kind of special or unique tinted.Normally used an alcohol tincture, made by mixing red mahogany punches, which took two primers to the pipe. Subsequently treated with a preparation of potassium dichromate and pulia. This treatment of color, was a function of what we had in the workshop ......... sometimes to well and sometimes not.Likewise, often experiment with other shades or changing the percentages in the mixtures, thus, there is no basis for saying that Bonet have a characteristic tone and different from other houses.
